HOW WE INSTALL PATIO, WALKWAYS & POOL PAVERS

From sub-base to clean up you will experience the absolute workmanship of our team in the following stages of work:

We set up the layout. First, we make a marking on the site with white paint.

Then we create a square corner to work with, using rope, stakes, and a laser.

Set up a slope to ensure that surface drainage goes in a certain direction. A slope of 1% to 2% is sufficient when setting a slope for drainage.

Dig and level the subgrade to a depth of 5 to 7 inches below the final grade, depending on soil quality and estimated load on the patio and walkways.

Pile geotextile on top of the ground.

Lay a 4-6 inch base of gravel. We use 3/4″-0 or ODOT road gravel.

The gravel base should be level with no bloat or rise of more than 1/8 inch. To do this, compact the gravel with a vibratory plate. Add a little water. This will help with compaction and reduce dust. Compact the gravel 2 inches at a time until the desired thickness is reached.

Use a level or flat board to check that there are no dips or rises in the gravel.

Place a 1-inch bedding layer. Clean concrete sand, small chip stone, “HPB” or “clear 1/8” chip may be used for the bedding layer.

Install the Edge Restraints well. Use concrete or vinyl retention systems.

Now that we have a stable base, bedding layer, and edges, we lay the pavers starting from the fixed structure on tensioned strings. We leave a 1/8-inch seam between the paving stones.

As we approach the edges, we trim the stone to create a perfect border.

Fill the joints halfway with polymer sand, making several passes with a vibratory plate with a rubber pad on the bottom. Then completely fill the joints with polymer and compact them again. Sweep with a broom until the sand is 1/8 inch below the paver surface (depending on the pavers used and the manufacturer’s recommendations).
